Objectives

Emergency Preparation Program

The Earthquake of October 08, 2005 and huge flux of internally displaced people in Pakistan due to war against terror, exposes the vulnerability of Pakistan to disaster risks. With the current transition in geo political situation and environmental change the importance of disaster risks for the society may increase. Therefore, the Rural Community Council addresses the issues of disaster risk reduction and preparedness in comprehensive manner. RCC have a comprehensive programme to deal with natural disasters and their risks and we committed to work in the areas highlighted by National Disaster Management Authority.

Key Interventions

RCC organized a transit camp at Village Alpuri District Shangla for the IDPs moving toward safe areas from Malam Jaba during the Swat Operation.

300 Families were provided with accommodation Food, Medical facility and financial assistance to travel to their relatives in other parts of country.

Provision of winterize kits and blankets to 4000 Children of 4 union councils in district Shangla in collaboration with UNICEF.

Organized free medical camp for Earthquake injured and Swat IDPs in district Shangla & Mansehra.

Provided food item to 60 families of flood victims and free medical camp with the coordination of SWO in Shaidoo, Nowshera.

Primary Education Program

Key Interventions

200 adult females and 400 males were educated in 30 adult literacy centers in district Shangla with partnership of National commission for human development NCHD.

Government girl's high school Alpuri was made accessible.

100 school teachers and education department Shangla was sensitized for need of inclusive education and accessible environment in school in district Shangla.

Free Education for 4 Orphans in UC Datta District Mansehra.

A water supply scheme at village KASS. Two water supply schemes for 90 houses in two villages Chorbat & Petaw.

Construction of 5 kilometers link road at village Jabba.

Key Interventions

Female Skill Development centre successfully run for 3 years in Village Alpuri District Shangla 280 females got skilled of cutting swing and embroidery in the centre.

300 skilled Females identified for "Muahwin" Program in district Mansehra. These skilled females are organized in working groups and they are in process of market linkage. 2 groups have successfully completed orders worth Rs. 90,000 including disabled women.

RCC as a livelihood Resource Information Centre.

Key Interventions

Database of more than 3000 PWDs of Khyber PakhtoonKhawas province (District Abbottabad, Mansehra, Shangla, Batagram and Swat).

Referral network with many rehabilitation service providers.

Trained Trainers for Disability Awareness and Accessibility are available.

Well aware of the Disability movements all around the world and direct guidance from disability leaders.

Distribution of Assistive devices to 50 PWDs of District Mansehra and Shangla.
